The State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law and Litigation Sections are sponsoring the program, New Discovery Rules and the Business Courts, on October 15, 2019. The program will address upcoming changes to Michigan’s statewide rules, and how these new amendments will affect discovery in Michigan’s Business Courts, including a look at present practices and their relationship to the new rules.
The panel will draw from three county Business Courts, including Wayne County Judges Lita M. Popke, Brian Sullivan, and Edward Ewell, Jr., Oakland County Judges James M. Alexander and Martha D. Anderson, and Macomb County Judge Kathryn A. Viviano. Judge Popke is also a Business Court Representative to the American Bar Association’s Section of Business Law.
The panel further includes attorneys Fatima M. Bolyea, Daniel D. Quick, and Douglas L. Toering. Attorneys Bolyea and Toering are frequent authors on Michigan Business Court subjects. Attorney Quick chaired the State Bar of Michigan’s Civil Discovery Court Rule Review Special Committee, and wrote this recent article on the new rule changes, and paradigm shift, coming to Michigan.
