We posted last Friday on Utah’s new Business and Chancery Court, which will become operational toward the end of 2024.
The bill’s sponsor, Representative Brady Brammer, and others, presented on the proposed business court to the Utah House Judiciary Committee, the video of which can be found here, and to the State Senate Judiciary Committee, the video of which can be found here. This power point was presented by Representative Brammer and Utah attorneys Wade R. Budge and Frank Pignanelli during the House presentation.
As stated in a recent Utah Bar Journal article, “Attorney Wade Budge, of Snell & Wilmer, developed a white paper that served as a comprehensive guide for these [Utah business court working group] deliberations, especially in examining and analyzing such courts in other jurisdiction.” A copy of that white paper can be found here.
A representative of the court administration office, testifying before the House Committee, was especially appreciative of being included in the process of developing the contours of this legislation.
